However, as restrictions are gradually lifted, fans are excited to see their favorite performances on stage again. The show producers are equally excited, stating “Spring will come again” and have already started preparations for their tour. Make sure you grab your tickets right now because demand is high, and they could sell out very soon!
Written by Anais Mitchell and directed by Rachel Chavkin, Hadestown explores the Greek Mythology of King Hades and his wife Persephone, the young Eurydice, and Orpheus. In search of his love, Eurydice, Orpheus goes to the underworld where he meets King Hades, who makes him a very tempting offer.
In 2012, Anais Mitchell and Rachel Chavkin collaborated to rework on the stage production of Hadestown by adding additional songs and dialogue. Hadestown has gone on to win eight Tony awards alongside a Grammy award for best musical theatre in 2020. Hadestown has also gone international with its first international production in Seoul, South Korea.
In 2016, Hadestown premiered off-Broadway at the New York Theatre Workshop and followed with engagements in London and Canada. In March 2019, they officially premiered on Broadway and received critical acclaim for the performance. The storytelling of Anais Mitchell and Chavkin’s Tony-winning score is a beautiful combination of musical theatre that you need to experience.
Hadestown’s original tour was due to begin in 2020 but had to be delayed because of COVID-19. As the lockdowns are being lifted, ticket demands are on the rise again. Make sure you buy your tickets right now for a great evening at the San Francisco Orpheum Theatre.
